Week 5 Post 2
Danae was a symbol of virtue and purity. She
became Christianized in the 14th century. The story of Danae brings
a more positive light to women. Though her father punished her in the
beginning, she is never seen as a villain or wrongfully blamed. She is seen
more as a strong figure, though her story is often overlooked because of the
fame of Perseus’ story. The tale of Danae’s life is to teach the lesson that
one cannot control their own fate no matter how hard they try. The lesson is
mostly shown through the actions of her father.
How was she Christianized in the 14th century? As a saint?
