Though Danae’s life is such an important piece of Perseus’
story, she gets very little credit and is very unknown. She is never viewed as evil
or the villain and she is seen as strong and free-willed. This does a lot of
justice for women in these stories and leaves a good example. However, I have
noticed that the stories that show women in a healthy way are never as well
known as those that are more toxic and paint them as a villain. Most people know
stories of female mythological ‘villains’ such as Medusa, Charybdis or Circe. This
further illustrates the fact that women are known for their mistakes
