Week 7 post 3
I think this story is a good example of the blatant dramatization of these 'principles' that are embedded within. It is blatant enough that some people can see through the misogyny. The idea that women are useless if they cannot marry or have children is prevalent in many Greek myths. Though these myths were written and told hundreds of years ago, they are still present in today's society.
As I read more and more of these type of stories, I wonder where the inspiration came from. Are stories like this based off of people's life experiences, are they fabricated to push an agenda or are they simply for the entertainment? This is what is fascinating about analyzing myth. There is so much more that we know in today's society that you can never truly and correctly analyze myth because everything is so different.
Do you see any variations in the stories depending on where they are from?
